PROMPT ANSWER :
Facebook is taking steps to limit the amount of news stories you will see on your news feed. CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg defended the move saying that the feedback they'd received from users supports this. Users were unhappy with all the news they were seeing on their feeds. Therefore Facebook will adjust the algorithm to reduce the amount of news stories you will see.
I, personally have no issue with this, as long as I'm able to see my news stories easily. If it's an emergency, and a big emergency or story at that, I do think that facebook should have a sort of featured story option off in the corner so we know whats going on. This move is clearly in response to the controversy surrounding the election last year, as supported in the Ad Age article. A senior research analyst at pivotal, attributes the decline in visits to the social media network to "toxic commentary and fake news."
I understand and am partially grateful for facebook's attempts to stop some of the toxic content on their platform, in the interest of keeping things neutral. However, i'm someone who likes her news, if they find a away to keep that easily accessible for me, i'm happy.
